Emergency and planned shutter repairs
We repair roller shutters, loading bay doors, security doors and garage doors for shops, warehouses and homes. Finch Group is based in Horwich, Bolton, covers the North West, Yorkshire, Cumbria and North Wales, and takes emergency call-outs 24/7.

What we do

A shutter that won't close leaves the building open. We come out day or night to get the door shut and locked, then plan the full repair if one is needed.

Warehouse shutters get hit by forklifts, machinery and vehicles. We take out bent sections, straighten the curtain and guides, and get the door running in its tracks again.

Damaged laths are replaced or new sections added, and worn or bent guides and runners are repaired or replaced so the shutter opens and closes smoothly.
We repair and replace shutter motors, fit replacement locks, and renew the rubber seal along the bottom of the door so pests can't crawl underneath.

We also repair the doors behind the shutter. On one shop front the door would not close because its bottom pivot had collapsed, so we fitted a universal bottom pivot and a new transom closer.
Repairs
Repairs are one of the main parts of our business. A shutter has many moving parts that wear, and commercial shutters are often damaged by operators or machinery. We repair roller shutters, loading bay doors and security doors, including:

One of David Pluck Bookmakers' stores had a damaged shutter that would not close. We attended the same day and added extra lath sections to the door, so it closed securely again and the shop could be locked up.
Pests and rodents were getting into a B&M warehouse in Manchester by crawling under the shutter's rubber seal. We replaced the seal, so nothing can fit under the door when it is closed.
A warehouse shutter had been hit by a machine and could not close. We removed the guides, straightened the shutter as far as possible with a forklift, then refitted the guides so the door could open and close. It was a temporary fix to make the building secure, and we told the customer the door would need a full repair or replacement later.
A business contacted us about a damaged roller shutter door. We fixed the runners and straightened sections of the curtain, so the door ran smoothly when opened and closed.

Cost
Every repair is different, so we price it once we know what has failed. These are the things that make the biggest difference to the cost. Quotes are free and there is no obligation.
Replacing a rubber seal or a lock is a smaller job than replacing a motor or a run of damaged laths.
Laths, guides, motors and brakes vary in price with the size and make of the shutter.
Large warehouse and loading bay shutters are heavier and take longer to work on than a shopfront shutter.
Doors that need a lift or scaffold to reach the barrel and motor take more time and equipment.
Some damage can be repaired for good. A badly impacted door may need a temporary fix to secure it, then new sections or a replacement shutter.

FAQs
The questions customers ask us most. If yours isn't here, give us a call.
Yes. We take emergency call-outs 24/7 for roller shutters, security doors, loading bay doors and garage doors. The first aim is to get the door closed and the building secure.
Most of them. We straighten and realign shutters, repair and replace motors and guides, fit new locks and rubbers, replace laths and safety brakes, and carry out general maintenance.
Often, yes. We remove the guides, straighten the curtain and refit them so the door closes. If the damage is too bad for a lasting repair, we make it secure first and tell you whether it needs new laths or a full replacement.
Replace the rubber seal along the bottom of the door. We did this for a B&M warehouse in Manchester where rodents were crawling under a worn seal, and it stopped them getting in.
Yes. We repair security doors, loading bay doors, sectional doors and shop front doors, including pivots and door closers.
It depends on what has failed, the parts needed, the size of the door, access, and whether it can be repaired or needs replacing. We give free, no-obligation quotes.
