Safety Brakes
A safety brake stops the door dropping suddenly if there is a mechanical or electrical failure. Every roller shutter should have one, and we check, fit and replace them.
Planned maintenance for shutters and doors
Roller shutter servicing finds and replaces worn parts before they fail, so your doors keep working safely. We service roller shutters, loading bay doors and security doors for businesses across the North West, Yorkshire, Cumbria and North Wales, from our base in Horwich, Bolton.

What we do

A safety brake stops the door dropping suddenly if there is a mechanical or electrical failure. Every roller shutter should have one, and we check, fit and replace them.

Springs and cables do the work every time a door opens. Over time they wear and the door stops running smoothly, so we replace them before they cause a breakdown.

On sectional and high-rise doors, worn hinges and wheel carriers put the door out of line. We replace them as part of a service or when we are already working on the door.
We check rubber seals, locks and motors, and repair or replace anything that is worn, so the shutter closes fully and locks every time.
A roller shutter has many moving parts that wear with use. Shutters on shops, warehouses and loading bays can open and close many times a day, and the parts that wear first are the ones that lift and hold the door.
Regular servicing keeps shutters safe and cuts the risk of breakdowns. For businesses with shutters in daily use we recommend planned maintenance, so worn parts are found and replaced before they turn into a costly repair.
Taken from our own job posts.
We supplied and fitted two new lifting springs and cables to the shutter system at DAMS Furniture in Knowsley. Wear had made the old ones less effective. After fitting, we tested the door to check it ran smoothly.
David Pluck Bookmakers called us because a shutter was not working correctly. We found the safety brake had failed, took out the canopy, curtain and barrel, and fitted a new safety brake.
While refitting an impact-damaged sectional high-rise door for Richer Sounds, we found wear on some of the hinges and wheels. We replaced them at the same time, along with the top three wheel carriers on both sides.

Cost
We price servicing around your doors and how hard they work. These are the things that make the biggest difference. Quotes are free and there is no obligation.
One shopfront shutter is a short visit. A full run of loading bay doors takes longer.
Large industrial and sectional doors have more parts to check than a small shutter.
Doors in daily, heavy use need checking more often than doors used once or twice a day.
Replacement springs, cables, brakes or motors add to the cost.
Doors that need a lift to reach the barrel and motor take more time and equipment.
Free and no obligation.
